F.A.Q.
You may be wondering, "What am I getting myself into?" And that’s sort of the point. The experience relies on mystery and surprise. But here are some prep notes to quell your curiosity:
Context, please?
This is Chapter 3 in an ongoing series. At the center is the House of Grehl Academy of Enlightenment and its founder, Professor Foggybottom. It is 1955 and the Academy is in its heyday, on the brink of inciting massive technological and social change. You are being recruited as a participant in a breakthrough study. A detailed in-character recap of previous chapters will be provided at the start of the show.
Interactive, you say?
You can lean into the experience as much as you are comfortable. Chapter 3 involves interacting with each other quite a bit, but the roles are mostly nonverbal. We encourage you to use the time before the show to get comfy with each other. We will provide a practice experience during this time that will help you understand the show’s format. During the experience, we ask that everyone stay silent unless instructed otherwise, to preserve the magic. At the beginning of most "rooms," you will be given a card meant for your eyes alone. You may refer to this as needed.
Will drinks be served?
Yes, there will be various mini-elixirs offered throughout the roughly 2-hour experience, amounting to about 2 cocktails’ worth. Please let us know ahead of time if you need non-alcoholic versions. We will also serve a welcome drink upon arrival, to help leave those inhibitions at the gate. Please note that there are lots of instructions to follow. To facilitate the best experience for you and your fellow guests, pacing is advised.
Do I need to bring anything?
We encourage you to dress and/or accessorize based on the prompts given in your invitation letter. We will provide any specific props needed during the experience. We meticulously source our show props and save them for reuse, so please treat them kindly and return them as prompted.
What’s in it for everyone?
Us: we architects get to build great environments, but with fewer rules and life safety concerns. You: you get to go somewhere otherworldly, with good drinks to boot. More than anything, the show is about connecting with people in new and magical ways, and awakening your sense of play and imagination.
